having jihan back in the bay was the most glorious thing ever. and aside from just ONE MISSING MEMBER (fucking hilary) the UNIT was reunited this weekend and it felt fucking great. although the annoyingly more and more apparent 2 degrees of separation of living in san francisco is really starting to make me cringe...for jihan to come back straight to a classic minna/ftc night was quite an event. it was actually nice too see everyone back in one place again---fools came out of the cracks for this event. too bad jihan took that as her new standard expectation of what she was missing, but i guess that means shes moving back this summer!!!!!

and then there was the BNAS new mansion house party. mayhem hyphyness at its best. for anyone that missed this, you missed viewing possibly THE most beautiful and cheapest ES-EF house on the market. These ladies are known for the their oh so infamous BBQs (one of the few folks who will rage a BBQ on a cold winter day in SF just cause bbq cooking taste so damn good)and i'm going to go with, "thank god they have a HUGE backyard all to themselves!" I think the jump-off is supposed to be this saturday for Shiner's bornday.

can we take a hint who was taking pictures?

24th San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival There were a lot of dope features this year:

WATER For all of you who are familiar with Filmmaker Deepa Mehta, Water was the trilogy to her previous films: EARTH & FIRE. Water explored the lives of Hindu widows who were forced into hostels to spend the rest of her life in renunciation.

PUNCHING AT THE SUN was another favorite of mine. In a post 9/11 world this film is about the rising urban desi (indian) culture and it takes place in Queens. It's got it all: racism, identity, and redemption.

BUT WHY WAS THE INTERNATIONAL ASIAN AMERICAN FILM FESTIVAL SO IMPORTANT THIS YEAR

The very first U.S. Premiere of the Tibetan Film: Dreaming Lhasa. Directed by Tibetan Filmmaker Tenzing Sonam and wife Ritu Sarin. I got a chance to meet the talented couple (yes..dopest married filmmakers i've ever met) over dinner and then at the Berkeley premiere over at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAM/PFA). It was a beautiful film, and I'm not being biased because of the apparent obvious. These actors and actresses were just everyday Tibetans living in Dharamsala, India and it came off so natural. I am really looking into helping them get a U.S. Distributor because I would love to see this film come back to the bay, the U.S. and just to Tibetans everywhere! It's about touches everything Tibetans today are faced with, forget and need to remember: our torn identities, our culture, our roots and our future.

Let's not forget the what else went down these past two weeks: THE MUSIC VACATION OF THE MUTAHAFUCKING YEAR (til next year of course)

SXSW & WMC

This is what its all about people. And i don’t even care that a bunch of fucking bastards got to experience this to the fullest and my broke ass had to just hear the sideline reviews: anyone and everyone who can't live without music has the god damn right to take an annual vacation where they are entirely submerged amongst the best musicians, artists, djs, bands, you name it. I mean seriously for the most frustrating problem to be: having 5 of your favorite bands/artists of all time all playing at the same palce but in 5 different venues and you cant decide where to go to what first is a fucking great dilemma to be in, right?

and can we just look at what ONE of the weekend’s lineup (giantstep) looked like at this years WMC:
